April 9 Homework: Read and Respond

Hi Team 15,
Did you know that making connections helps a person to understand a book better.  What connections are you making to Out of the Deep.  Please write about one or more connections.  Tell if it is a text-self, text-world or text-text connection, then describe that connections.  Making connections is a contagious activity, usually one person's connections creates new connections in others' minds.

Also make sure that your read pages 44-50 tonight.  We will review your connections tomorrow as we continue our interactive read aloud adventure, Out of the Deep.

- Ms. Devlin

p.s. I made a text-world connection.  Marine mammals are stranding on Cape Cod just like the whale stranded at Acadia in Out of the Deep.  Here's an article that tells all about it if you're interested.

  4. Like Florida, the ocean at Acadia is filled with marine life, but unlike Florida, the water at Acadia is cold and the shore is mostly rocky. I think that both Ashley and Jack like animals a lot. I think they are proud of their mother, Olivia, and her work as a wildlife veteranarian. Thanks for being the first three students to comment. I wonder what connections the other students will make.

  13. It's good to see that more people are making connections. Ashley reminds me a lot of my sister. My sister is agile and when we went for hikes she was always "dancing" in front of us.

  15. Wow, a lot of people are connecting to the squished car experience. Has anyone ever saved an animal, or specifically a marine mammal? I wonder what that's like in real life? Or, has anyone ever been "frigid" or really cold in the autumn ocean water?

  18. I know what's it like to be smashed in the back seat. Also, since Jack knows many things about whales more than Bindy, my sister Ashley acts like Bindy and I am Jack though Ashley is thinner, younger, and less annoying.
